Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

I was looking for a portable but loud Bass amp at the GC store and a Bassist named Bill was putting different amps through their paces with his own 80's Ibanez Bass and talked at length about this one. He had owned the 200 watt version. I was leaning toward a Fender 200 until he played an Ampeg, the Fender, then this Acoustic, both clean and distorted. Both clean and distorted sounded amazing and as good if not better than the Ampeg and Fender put together. The Acoustic NEVER got muddy at any setting and the tone was full and round, with some serious bottom end. With the volume at 3,it was booming and loud, and our pants legs were moving! The highest he went to was volume 6 but backed it off because the walls and equipment around us were rattling. The clear and rich sound never changed and even the distortion sounds,(He was in a Rock Trio but I never use it),were excellent and better than the Fender and much better than the Ampeg which both lost clarity when distortion was added. I was concerned that the 100 watt Acoustic wouldn't be loud enough to carry gigs but it really kicked, and it also has a balanced line out if extreme volume is needed allowing it to go through a PA. I doubt I'll need to do that. In the end,the tone and power sold me and I walked out with it. Granted,I cannot speak for reliability yet,but I am in my late 50s and go back to the original Acoustic guitar and Bass amps and cabinets,so it is like an old friend to me. My only complaint is that it's a bit heavy so looks are deceiving! But it looks and feels very solid, and I am sure the extra weight just adds to the beautiful tone,so I'll live with it!

I have been playing mostly guitar and occasional Bass since I was a kid,and I am an Artist Manager,Producer,Songwriter, and Performer. I've worked in,Produced in,or Managed in 7 Recording Studios up a huge high end recording facility. I've done many styles but Original Country is my passion!

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

I purchased this amp to take to auditions and leave at the rehearsal space so I would not be subjecting my Aguilar Rig reckless abuse or possible theft.
To my surprise I found this amp to be an incredible tone monster. and well built!
I've played three different Basses threw it #1 Vintage G&L SB-2, #2 Fender Aerodyne J Bass with Aguilar P/J pup's, #3 ESP Elite J-5 with Seymour Duncan pup's. They all sound great with this amp, sound is best for that classic rock and hard rock edge with the built in overdrive ( which is very adjustable or flexible )
My Aggie is still my #1 Amp and can't be beat by no means IMO, but this amp will go to all Shows and sit there for when it's time for that different sound or even in tandem with the Aggie.
To sum up it's well worth the money spent and I'm now waiting on my B300H head and B115 mk|| cab to link it with for even more Low Down Power!

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

I own the B100. This amp has GOT to be one of the most pleasant surprises in my music-playing life. Specifically, my Ibanez SR300E sounds spectacularly clear, growly and clear/precise. My Warwick Corvette passive 5-string is deeply resonant and punchy. Since there weren't many dials to F with, I found it very easy to shape the sound I prefer (I play jazz, rock, techno, C&W and funk/acid rock). The simplicity of the amp is to me is a big strong point. After two years of ownership, I love the amp, but the relatively low power output eliminates playing it stand alone. 300-500W are what's needed to do that.

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

I've listened to and read comments about Acoustic bass amps, with many being clearly negative, and I want to encourage bassists, especially (serious) beginners without a lot of $$ to spend, to at least try the amp before passing judgment on it. Put it through its paces, it can likely handle whatever you've got in mind (sparing overdrive voicings). I've owned my B100, not the B100MkII, for four years and have not experienced a single problem. Yeah, it's a heavy beast, but the electronics are very straightforward, and provides the flexibility to meet the needs of picky bassists (like myself). Had Acoustic produced a 300-500 watt model--stand by Acoustic amp haters--I would have used it as my go-to amp for our weekly gigs (since my B100 doesn't output enough to cut through four other band members). Around the 2 o'clock point on volume begins to distort or undo the effort you took to dial in just the right sound. However, I had a similar issue with two other "big name" amps, so I'm rating it 4 on principle, just as I would have rated those other amps, too.

Cheapest Option - Don't Expect Much

    By Avery

    from Houston

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

I bought one three years ago - almost to the day. Died on me only a little past my warranty. Acoustic CS didn't want to hear about it and their reps know nothing about what's inside the cabinet. I opened mine up to see if I could find/fix the issue myself. This is a very cheap amp. If you buy it with the expectation that it will be for practice and only last a few years with modest, in home use and you don't take it around on gigs, you'll be somewhat satisfied. If your expectations go beyond that, you will be disappointed. View this amp as a disposable item. I love my GC store and staff - no reflection on them. But know the truth and have realistic expectations.

Clean channel not so great, overdrive channel pretty cool

    By Brian Ettinger

    from PA

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

Obviously this score is in comparison to other amps I have played in similar price range (Behringer, Ampeg, Hartke). I've been using this amp with my SG bass (which does have brutal pickups), but I have never been too impressed with Acoustic amps. I think they are the driest sounding amps you can buy (along with Crates). They lack character for a solid state and there really is not much versatility with these amps. I personally have had much better use with Behringer amps. I had one that I got at a pawn shop with an aluminum speaker for $90 and I have played that thing at full volume for years and it has always held it together (even after producing smoke on a few occasions). This Acoustic amp can't handle the volume at all. It sounds terrible turned up and the eq's along with the frequency shaper are worthless. The only plus is the overdrive channel. I must say the overdrive has a satisfying sound, that was actually the deciding factor for me in getting this amp. It's very hard to find or produce a quality sounding fuzz, distorted, or highly overdriven sound for bass. Just spend an hour researching bass pedals and watch them all being demoed on youtube. you will see that they all suck and don't sound cool at all. The overdriven sound on this amp sounds cool. So, if you want to play heavy downtempo stoner rock, or mimic the sounds of Cream or Yes, or play cool jazz/funk music lead by the melodies of a heavily overdriven bass. Then this amp is the cheapest way to get a pretty darn good sound for those styles, yet don't expect to ever be able to use the clean channel. Rock and Roll!

    Great combo amp

    By duane galambos

    from Daytona Bch Florida

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

simple to use, capable of dialing in any tone, no unwanted fluff and buff. if you are a bass player that wants a solid utilitarian combo amp that can handle practice to gig without all the cheesy modeling and effects banks then this is your amp. I'm satisfied with the product at the service I received from Guitar Center. I had a problem with an early bass amp order and they went out of their way to make it right. I have been dealing with GC for over 2 years now and they have not disappointed me online or in their showroom. good product, good company.

    Best Bass Amp Value

    By Steven Kaufman

    from Baltimore, MD

Comments about Acoustic B100mkII 100W Bass Combo Amp:

I have this second version of this B100 bass amp from Acoustic, Inc. They have upgraded it with an overdrive channel and a shape function. Both are useful. The overdrive, if set conservatively, produces a nice tubey sound. The shape function boosts lows and highs while minimizing the midrange. You should be able to jam with just about anyone and also do gigs with a full band. Nice deep tone. Get one and enjoy!
