Overview

The AG60 acoustic guitar amp is capable of handling up to four inputs, making it perfect for performing singer-songwriters, duos, or groups looking for an easy and great-sounding way to amplify multiple instruments and voices without having to cart around multiple pieces of gear.

The AG60 is designed to maximize projection, with its angled-up wedge shape. For warm, full-frequency sound, the cabinet features 2 - 8" studio monitor-style speakers for soft mid and low-frequency response and a coaxial tweeter for ultra-clear, sparkling high end. Channels 1 & 2 each feature two combination inputs which both accept a 1/4'" unbalanced or XLR balanced input, so you can plug in a variety of instrument/microphone combinations. Input level controls accommodate a variety of level needs, and peak indicators warn you when your signal is getting too hot. Three-band EQs with sweepable midrange on each channel make it easy to get a solid instrument tone on one and clear vocal sound on the other.

Also included on each channel is a selectable effects unit with 16 possible effects, including reverbs, delays, and choruses. Additionally, the rear panel has an effects loop for using external effects units with or without the built-in choices. A master input gives you greater control over your tone and output when used in conjunction with the input gain knobs.

For quiet playing, there's an 1/8" stereo headphone jack, and for pre-recorded accompaniment, there's an 1/8" stereo aux input. Finally, rear-panel balanced or unbalanced line outs with independent level control afford you more control when you send your signal to a live sound PA or recording console. The AG60 is a full-featured amp, with plenty of power to handle any venue, and a wide array of tone-shaping options that will give your instrument and voice the exact care they deserve.

I bought this amp for use with my Martin electric acoustic. I almost bought the Fishman Loudbox but the the Guitar Center salesman suggested this amp instead. I have to say I am glad I took his advice. At first I was concerned about how much sound I would get out of a pair of 8 inch speakers at 60 watts but this concern was quickly overcome once I plugged in and started to play. Acoustic makes a similar amp at 120 watts but this is plenty of power for my needs. It will easily satisfy the needs for most small venues. The Acoustic AG60 has four inputs on two channels. It has a variety of digital effects that you select via a labeled knob. The selected effect is for both channels but each channel has a separate level knob so you can control the amount of effect individually. I really do not use this feature since I adjust the effects from the instrument itself but I'm sure I will experiment with it in the future. As mentioned previously, this amp has four inputs which can be either a 1/4" jack or XLR connector. That is really neat since you can have a pair of musicians each with a guitar and a mic on their own channel OR you can connect up to 4 instruments at one time (this is what I plan on doing.) Each input has a separate volume knob so each instrument/mic can be set as needed. There is also a set of equalizer controls for each channel... low, mid (sweepable from from 500-1200Hz), and high. I must say that I just set each of these into the halfway position and use that. So far so good. If you look at the picture, you will notice that there are four rubber pads on the bottom. This is so you can stand it up or tilt it back. I found that in the upright position it seemed a little unstable and felt more comfortable with it in the tilted position. The last thing I want is for equipment to shift position while playing. Overall this is an outstanding amp. I've had it for about 4 months now and had NO PROBLEMS. It is light weight and easy to use. The output is clear and there is no annoying hiss or other pesky unwanted noise. I've had other solid state amps and it seems they would generate noise of some type but not with this amp. I am very pleased.

I have struggled to get this amp to give me the live sound I'm looking for from my Martin OC-16 Aura. It's almost like this amp has a mind of it's own. The sound from the 2 speakers seems to die out to the side of the cabinet. Tweaking the "frequency" control from the center position produces a muddy sound. For vocals it's pretty good , but for accoustic/electric guitar, a disappointment. Really like the XLR in and out jacks. Line-Out level adj. is handy feature, too.

    AG60 does what it says...............

Comments about AG60 60W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

The AG60 does excactly what it's supposed to do and very well. Of the several acoustic amps I tried this was the most natural sound to my ear and the room effects far exceed expectation. The tilt back design as well as control layout/function is simple and a big plus as well as the timber of the vocal sound. The only minus I'd include is that it's heavy. But I believe the extra weight of the larger cabinet lends itself to added tonal balance as does the use of two 8 inch speakers as opposed to one. If weight is a factor go with the smaller version if you must. Also exceeding expectation was salesman Alan at the Rockvillle Md. store. The first AG60 I got quickly developed the problem of choking off the sound after a few minutes of play. He was quick to offer assistance if I wanted to switch out to another amp making several suggestions and advice but agreed with me that my original choice was sound even if the amp had a problem. I should add that even prior to getting the first AG60 I had gotten another brand (F----r) and then after some time was not at all happy with it. Allan at GC was very efficient at helping me switch out to the AG60 instead of simply swapping to the same make.

    Great amp

Comments about AG60 60W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is very versatile, it can be used as a regular amp, a mini PA or as a stage monitor when used with an actual PA. 4 inputs for any combination of 4 instruments or mics with 4 separate volumes is really great to have for instruments that need to be mic'd. Only partial problem is there is only 2 eq's, it hasnt been much of an issue for me though. The sound is a very clean acoustic sound. Well worth the money for this amp

    This is the real deal!

Comments about AG60 60W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

The AG60 is a top quality amp that will do the job. When Acoustic calls it a "performance system" they mean just that. My rig is a Jerry Douglas Dobro thru a Fishman Aura Spectrum Di to the amp plus a Nady large diaphram condenser mic thru an ART Tube MP box to the other channel of the AG60. This amp will replace an entire Pa system, at least for smaller shows. The tone, the volume (with headroom to spare)and the reverbs are outstanding. I am an older musician and have the need for smaller and better equipment to do my shows with and this amp fills that bill! I would also like to say how helpful the folks at Guitar Center in Cincinnati are, thanks Nolan!

    Awesomeness!!!

    By Bret

Comments about AG60 60W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

The amp is great period. It gets loud and sounds great. The vocals really aren't that bad and are just fine if you're just looking to practice. The peak light comes on the deeper the sound is. Can be avoided somewhat by dropping your low and raising your mid. I like this sound anyway. I also, play my electric through this and by itself it doesn't sound that great, but if you throw in a distortion pedal it actually does sound fairly decent. I plug in two acoustics and two mics and it can handle everything easily and it is super easy to level out the volume on each instrument and mic as they all have separate volume knobs. The guitars and mics will have the same eq's and effects applied to them as the two channels each have two inputs. The effects are nice for messing around although the majority of them are really just different reverbs. The repeat echo is very nice and I haven't been able to duplicate it with any of my pedals. Don't be cheap, buy a sound hole cover It will drastically cut back the feedback and keep the amp from peaking as easily.

    BEST ACOUSTIC AMP

    By Kyle Spinks

    from Bowie, MD

Comments about AG60 60W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I play in a church sanctuary that seats about 200. I used the amp as a monitor and then plugged the amp into the system. The amp was too quiet to be heard over the drums and other instruments. I'd turn it up and the peak light would come on and it would buzz. Then I plugged into the effects loop. The amp got twice as loud and got clearer. Plug your pedals into the effects loop and if you dont have pedals take a patch cable and plug it into the effects loop, you will find the 60 Watts the amp promises. All amazing beautiful quality will be kept.

    Great Amp!

    By Brian

Comments about AG60 60W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I really like this amp its Loud! It has all these input slots on the front - though I really don't know what they're for, I'm not even sure if I'm using the right input for my guitar, but it sounds Great. The effects is what really makes this amp worth the money. Without the effects it would just sound like any other amp. I'd say its worth the money, but shop smart and don't be like me, play it before you buy it.

    Acoustic AG60

    By Matt DiDomenico

    from Newtown Sq, PA

Comments about AG60 60W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

What a great amp. Two channels accomodates both acoustic guitars in our band and the balanced XLR line out provides a platform to use the amp as a monitor, (keeping the stage volume under control) while sending a matching signal to the board. The on board effects are well done and the response from the EQ settings is fantastic. This is a MUST have amp for acoustic use.

    One piece PA

    By Sam

    from Afton, OK

Comments about AG60 60W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

Recently purchased this unit as 1-piece PA to plug in my guitar and mics for me and my wife. So far very pleased. Good sound, good reverb. With the unit set just in front of our feet, with the tilt back cabinet it covers the audience well, plus we can hear it ourselves. Just wish it was a little smaller and lighter (41 pounds). Takes a big chunk out of the trunk space in my car. Still a very nice unit for our purposes.
