I lead worship at our church and play several outdoor events every year. For years I have used my Crate CA125 amp and it has served me well, but I could never get a really nice sound out of it and had to play through an old DOD Acoustec pedal to get a sound that was close to what I wanted. Out of curiousity I plugged into the Acoustic A40 at Guitar Center, and wow! The tone was amazing. Wonderful bass response and really nice, clear highs. I like the simple interface, an easy to manipulate 3-band EQ with a sweepable mid. I like the less is more approach that they've taken with this amp - the bottom line is it's very easy to get a nice sound. The preset effects are nice, I really like the reverb effects and the chorus is nice too. The amp also has phaser, delay, and flanger, but I wouldn't have much use for those unless I was recording lead guitar lines for a backing track or something like that.

The Bluetooth is great! The 1/8" aux input jack on the front is very useful also. There is no individual volume control for these two, you just control your volume on the device you're using and it sounds very clean with a wide volume range.

The amp comes with 20 preset effects patches, most of which are pretty nice (but not #19, oh it's horrible). There are also 20 channels available for user presets.

What's less than stellar? Editing effects. Very unintuitive and at times frustrating, and the manual isn't much help. It took me some time and trial & error to get things dialed in how I wanted. I do like that I can take an existing effects setting, add other effects to taste, and then save it as a user preset complete with a programmable name of my choice, pretty cool.

When you have an effect turned on you get it on both channels, no choice there but with reverb and a little chorus it works very well for guitar and vocals. If you need more flexibility you could step up and get the A1000, but for a player like me this amp has all I need. 2 thumbs up.

Comments about A40 40W Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I play in an acoustic duo, I bought this to use as a stage monitor and line out to the house pa. I looked at the A20, and decided to upgrade to the A40 for the wattage and DSP effects. I assumed I could direct the effects to either guitar or vocal channel, you cannot. So whatever effect you have it on , will be on both channels. This is an oversight on Acoustic part. However, I did find a setting that sounds good on both guitar and vocal with a little reverb . It does the job, and seems to be pretty loud. The anti-feedback technology is good and necessary is you use it live. Overall, nice amp for the money.

Comments about A40 40W Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a really clean acoustic amp, and great for any player who needs a simple, light and enexpensive amp for any acoustic instrument. It has great anti-feedback circuitry. This amp let's me turn up the gain on my electric acoustic guitars while seated directly in front the amp without feedback from my same-channel open mic. The amp I s really light and would be easy to gig with. 50 watts is plenty of power for an acoustic amp. Wish it had an reverb knob instead of relying on the processed, presets so you can dial it in a bit as you need for the mood or the room. Don't know how many of the digital effects that I will ever use, but the small rooms settings sound nice with my Taylor 816ce. I would recommend it.

Comments about A40 40W Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp:

I need a compact, clean, acoustic amp for my Martin GPCPA4 for use in small-to-medium sized venues (church, small parties, private gigs, etc.). I moved up from the AGC15 to the 40 and there's a world of difference for not too big a price tag. It throws a very robust, clean bass through the ported cabinet and doesn't bog down at higher levels. The effects are decent, but the one stinker and the reason I can't do five stars is the fact that you can't isolate the channels. If you're using a reverb or chorus effect on the guitar channel, you're stuck with it on the PA or voice as well.. not cool. Other than that I'm very pleased with my choice.
