The ART USB Dual Pre is a simple portable preamplifier and computer interface that comes in handy no matter where you are. There is no one perfect environment for recording music, nor does inspiration always hit you when you're stuck in a studio for hours on end. The ART USB Dual Pre is powered by a 12-volt DC adapter, internal 9-volt battery, from the USB bus itself, or from a combination of the three. You can go on the road, to another room, indoors, outdoors, or up floors. Basically the USB Dual Pre sets you free to roam, especially if you're working with a laptop. With a rugged aluminum chassis and rubber sides, you can be sure the Dual Pre will handle the abuse of road environments as well as it can deal with sitting comfortably on a desktop.
As its name suggests, the ART USB Dual Pre has two low-noise input channels. Whether you choose XLR balanced or 1/4-inch TRS inputs, each has up to 48 dB of clean gain with signal present, and clip LED indicators. With it's built-in low noise +48 Volt phantom power supply you can power up to two mics as well as the preamp when running off any of any of the power sources. The 1/4-inch TRS outputs are buffered low impedance balanced and can be used as either preamplifier outputs or as monitor feeds for powered monitors. A rear 1/8-inch TRS mini headphone jack with level and monitor controls provides latency-free monitoring of inputs during recording or the USB bus during playback. Fully compliant with the USB 1.1 specification, this compact device uses USB adaptive mode for playback and USB asynchronous mode for recording.
