No question about it this is a great mic good quality, great looks, and one of the best mics i have ever bought, very worth the money. i was using a snowball mic and after i bought this one i cant even use the snowball, after hearing the quality of the preception 200 i was hooked and i even seen some other Famouse Artist using the same mic which tells you itself it must be great because they can buy a $5,000 mic easy but they bought a AKG Preception Mic That speaks for itself you got to get this mic ....

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Condenser Microphone:

I love this mic for acoustic recordings. I partnered it with a Perception 170 for drums and percussion and they work well for my home studio. No this is not a Professional Mic for audio but if you are starting out and need some gear to familiarize yourself with the Perception series is the way to go. If you want Professional vocals I would look to Rode's Mics.

WOW!

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Condenser Microphone:

Just got mine and love it. Do yourself a favor and overlay the freg. chart of the U87 with this mic. Need I say more? It's my favorite and I own a CAD E200, MXL V69 and a Shure SM7 for vocals.

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Condenser Microphone:

This is a great microphone for beginners. It's an awesome starting mic, once you learn how to efficiently use your studio software, protools etc. and use the EQ's properly, you can make this microphone sound like gold. You have to have a half way decent interface though.

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Condenser Microphone:

Absolutely love this mic. I have used it ever since I started recording. I prefer to use this mic over every other mic in the price range of 0 to 500. I mostly use on rock vocals and have used as a mono drum overhead. Getting a second one so I can have stereo overheads. I recommend it to anyone!

    Condensing With The Stars

    By John Voci

    from Lynn, Massachusetts

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Condenser Microphone:

Until I tried the AKG Perception 220 first hand, I would not have believed that a condenser mic in such a low price range could possibly have come close to delivering on its hyped up promises. Well, I was wrong. I guess it isn't hype if you can actually do the job. This is a wonderful studio mic that brings out the high end nuance of a performance as well as any of the big boys I've ever seen. I'm sure that I will be using this not only for musical recordings, but also for bringing out character performances of actors reading for animation and voice over work as well. It just seems to be a wonderful, versatile mic. The fact that it comes with its own shock mount is a definite plus. I would highly recommend that you pick up a decent quality Pop Filter to use in front of it and, of course, make sure your phantom power supply is in good shape before you hook this baby up, but other that that I'd say buy this mic and you're good to go for your most demanding scenarios.

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Condenser Microphone:

This mic a pretty good mic for its price. It has some hi end that I don't like. But It works good with certain peoples voices that I've recorded. But If you want a sound with bass, and not so pronounced highs, look at the nueman tlm

Great Voice Over And Radio Mic

    By Leafpile Radio

    from Seattle WA

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Condenser Microphone:

Paired up with an Aphex Preamp/Processor. This is by far one of the best mics next to my Neumann U87 Condenser I have used. I do alot of voice over and productions works. And this mic has surpassed alot. It packs a big punch and bright vocals. At times people ask if this is my Neumann U87. I definitly recommend this mic for any application you will be using. But do by a processor of course.

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Condenser Microphone:

when i purchase microphones i experiment like crazy so i can remember what wont work and what will.. i picked this up for a work horse for the "less talented" .. and have found my self using it much more than i expected..for tenor sax "bright bite a bit" to upper part of a Leslie "clean with little bite when draw bars are out" really clean, over heads for drums, i can say its bang for your buck.. i use this often for live recording for instruments listed.. USE THE PAD..
