AKG Acoustics warrants AKG products against defects in material or workmanship for a period of two years from the date of original purchase, and agrees to repair or, at our option replace any defective unit without charge for either parts or labor. Warranty is valid for AKG products purchased and delivered within the United States for the original purchaser only. The purchaser's Bill of Sale will serve as proof of sale and warranty validity in the U.S. Shipment of defective items to AKG for repair will be at the customer's own risk and expense. I bought the 220 on a recommendation from a friend of mine who is a professional sound engineer. The performance absolutely fantastic for the price. It sounds at least as good if not better than mics triple the price. No kidding. When I recorded some raw audio and sent it to the studio I was told something like, "Wow. You've got a good mic. You're audio sounds perfect." When I told the engineer it was a AKG Perception 220 he was pretty surprised (and impressed). If you want a killer mic that sounds like a thousand bucks?without spending a thousand bucks?buy it. I also highly recommend the CEntrance MicPort Pro to go with it.
I am a musician / cinematographer and have been using the 220 extensively for over a year now. I continue to be impressed with its performance.
I've owned a huge variety of mics (including an AKG 414 - $1000) and used an even larger variety during the many years I've spent performing live music and recording sessions in studios. It is from this perspective that I can state confidently; the 220 has the best price / performance ratio of any mic I've ever used. Clean, quiet, sensitive, durable, adjustable and reliable. I can't spout out audio specs and engineering numbers, I can only say that it has delivered vastly more quality and value than I expected at the price I paid.
This past year, most of my experience with the 220 has come through its use as a workhorse mic in my film business--mostly interviews and live, one camera shoots. What I have come to rely on is that, even if my camera chops fail me, the audio captured on the 220 will be great, ensuring that all projects are worthy of public scrutiny. What's even more important is how the audio holds up on the web. Even after film footage goes through massive encoding and resizing, film clips sound awesome! It's really funny to watch a video the size of a postage stamp and have blow-away audio.
Very good price for all these gear, no complains the mic sounds for vocals.
