The D 22 microphone has a response tailored for very neutral reproduction of whatever it is used on. Perfect for completely authentic sound. The AKG D 22 mic has a rugged wire mesh cap and a sturdy die-cast metal body. The D 22 microphone comes with 16' XLR cable and stand adapter. Cardioid polar pattern, 60Hz-18kHz frequency range, 2.5 mV/Pa sensitivity.

Underestimated Microphone

I'm very suprised these mics are not more popular. It definetely can rival an sm57. I've used the D220 predecessor for over a year now to record snare and I have no complaints at all. It picks up the drum how it sounds with no color and it's low profile makes it easy to place. It can hack the loudest drummer. It Has a good low end response that can be used in tracks that require boosted low end so you can feel the snare in a sub sonic listening environment like in a car. It seems to have a magic formula that works well for all snares boosting EQ 40-60hz for sensation and around 200hz for punch to cut through on a heavily maximized mastering. I'm writing this review because I'm here purchasing 4 more of these for tom drum micing. To sum it up... awesome for non-obtrusive mic placement, durable, sounds great, and affordable!
