The ADAM A3X 2-way studio monitor is ADAM Audio's smallest monitor to date, making it perfectly suited for audio environments where space is limited but sound must not be. The A3X delivers acclaimed ADAM sound quality from a small footprint by using an X-ART tweeter for the higher frequencies guaranteeing crystal-clear music reproduction.
The A3X monitor's 4.5" basket driver handles the lower registers. The diaphragm is made from carbon fiber, a material that is very light but very stiff and therefore capable of delivering coloring-free sound. Two built-in 25W amplifiers power each of the drivers directly.
A very handy and exclusive technology found in the 2 smaller AX monitors is the Stereolink. This is accomplished by a pair of additional RCA connections that allow for a bypass of the second stereo channel to the other speaker.
This new technology connects 2 ADAM A3X speakers allowing you to control the system's stereo volume from either speaker's gain control. The A3X is a natural for mixerless desktop applications where overall system volume needs to be adjusted easily.
Controls and Connectors
The front of the ADAM A3X sports dual ports for surprisingly low frequency response down to 60Hz. The front panel is armed with power and gain controls. The rear panel includes a tweeter gain control as well as balanced (XLR) jacks and unbalanced (RCA) jacks, giving the ADAM A3X monitor greater connection flexibility.

I have very little desk space in my home setup and I do quite a bit of mission critical music and video audio mixes. I also do a lot of listening to music at my setup while I work. Previously I had a BlueSky Media desk monitoring system which was fantastic. I needed a pair of monitors that would take up very little room, provide a nice listening experience with character and of course offer flat response for mixing music and video. I demoed several monitors in this price range and to my ears these were without compare. They seem to offer an incredibly flat, precise clear response all the way through... no gap in the range where often monitors can be a little murky. The lower end is round and punchy, it's not going to shake up your internal organs... but it's certainly present and very workable for mixing. I'm a bass junkie and I'm probably going to add a sub at some point, but these sound so good as they are it's not on my top priorities. If I had to describe the sound of these I would easily say pristine and punchy. The subtle dynamics and details really shine through on these. I was also impressed with the throw of the speaker, my old monitors had a very specific sweet spot... and while these definitely have a sweet spot they seem to project the sound for a very enjoyable listening experience away from the desk as well. The build quality seems very solid, I didn't get the sense that anything inside or out would every become loosened over time. Seeing as these are small nearfield desk monitors, I am a little concerned about the lack of grill, but I assume it was never intended as these monitors seem engineered to put the sound out the way they do. A grill might kill the accuracy. But it is something to be mindful of, if you like to set your coffee down on the desk or anything else near them. As far as the look, well... I could imagine Darth Vader making some beats on the deathstar with these. I've just had these a day now, so I may update this review. But I am feeling great about this purchase. Picking monitors is extremely difficult. When I heard these it was a no brainer.
Only giving this four out of five stars because I'd reserve five for something really high-end (and more expensive). I bought these ADAM at the Guitar Center in Clackamas, OR, and I'm extremely happy with them. The project a clear, uncolored detail that is still very listenable and warm. Pretty solid bass at most volumes. If you're doing bass production, you can add the sub later, (although I don't really feel like I need it). Playing some remastered Beatles songs through these was mind-blowing! Short version: take in your penny jar, sell your comics, whatever you have to do, and buy these. You will probably never need another pair of desktop monitors, so the investment is definitely worth it.
The title of this review sums it up well! I'll get to the point...just buy these and forget about upgrading! (unless it's to another ADAM) In my 30 years of recording and production, I have never been so taken by any product. These are amazingly accurate and non-fatiguing monitors. They are revealing, but are not "thin" sounding in any way, the midrange is to die for! Horns, vocals, piano, cello, violin, it's like a whole different world. Currently I am using these in a HD multi-track set-up with video prod/editing with wonderful results. Light airy high's, gorgeous midrange, and deep tight bass. YES, I said DEEP and TIGHT! Hard to believe it's using a 4.5" driver. You will be amazed! My highest recommendation.
I've never heard such amazing sound delivered from monitors of this size. I don't own a pair of the A3X, But leaving my studio ADAM A7 + NS-10 and listening to a pair a mate bought for traveling... I was amazed. Im heading down now to Guitar center to upgrade my A7's to A7X because of the A3X's! Highly recommended.
