Epiphone Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Electric Guitar (H65655)
Availability:

A Les Paul fit for a blues rock titan.

The Limited Edition Joe Bonamassa Les Paul features a stunning metallic-finish carved maple cap with a mahogany back. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Grover 14:1 tuners have a nickel hardware coating. The glued, deep-set mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard features a rounded '59 neck profile for guitarists who prefer a chunkier neck, but still enjoy fast, smooth playing action. The BurstBucker 2 and 3 humbuckers have unbalanced pickup windings for the historically-accurate "Patent Applied For" sound with a little extra airy tone. The 'Bucker Type 3 is slighty overwound for more output.

A unique fusion of old and new ideas
Bonamassa played his first guitar at the age of four. By seven, he had stepped up to a full-scale model and had mastered many of Stevie Ray Vaughan's signature licks. At 10 he was playing regularly around the state of New York, garnering attention of blues legend B.B. King. Two years later, he was opening up for King, and eventually stars such as Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Stephen Stills, Joe Cocker, Gregg Allman, and George Thorogood. Bonamassa has lived up to his potential, continuing to develop his own style as one of contemporary music's most profoundly gifted guitar players.

  • I have BOTH and the Epiphone is almost better!

As reviewed by Michael Coates on 11/14/2011

Just what I said in the title... I have the Gibson Joe Bonamassa Les Paul Studio AND the Epiphone. See my review on the Gibson model (Amazing Tone, Annoying Trouble) and you'll know that I said it was a great guitar but had a bunch of quality control issues. Made me angry and bummed out at the same time... that my $1,400 guitar sounded and played great but had a bunch of little annoying problems. THE EPIPHONE HAS ALL OF THE TONE, ALL OF THE PLAYABILITY AND NONE OF THE QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES. I would assume that the Gibson has better this and that in terms of components and it does feel like a better playing guitar... but only just a little bit. For the money... you can't beat this Epiphone Joe Bonamassa LP. The finish is a true wonder. Does the name Goldtop proud! The Gibson USA pickups sound superb thru my Line 6 Spider and even better thru my Bugera V22 tube amp. Hook up the MXR '78 Badass pedal and NOTHING sounds better. All in all a VERY well made and produced guitar. The QC for Epiphone must have gotten the message from past years letdowns because they have picked up their game. This EPI JB LP- EXCELLENT. The Epiphone Nighthawk Reissue I got a few months ago- also excellent. Both of the 1960 50th Anniversary LPs I bought earlier this year(V1 and V3 both... ok I am a glutton for Les Pauls) TRULY AMAZING! To summarize, don't be a Gibson snob like I have been in the past. You will not be disappointed in any way with this guitar. It is made to destroy. Get on this axe promptly.

  • One Awesome Guitar

As reviewed by RICHARD HARRISS on 4/2/2013

First of all let me say that I'm a 25 year vet on guitar, I've played just about everything at one time or another. Ok there's good and bad on this guitar. Well the good is great and the bad I could only find two things that could have been better and it's purely aesthetics. For the good, epiphone really did a nice job on this one, it's probably the best epi I've ever played. In the terms of comparing to a Gibson though......Well you can, it's better than any Studio I've played. I've bought Studios and returned them for lack of quality. Functionally I couldn't find anything wrong with this guitar, I inspected it closely from top to bottom and I couldn't believe it..WOW, homerun for Epiphone..of course like most guitars that you buy, the factory setup left alot to be desired, the intonation was way off and the action was not ( in my opinion )wear it should have been. However those were easily remedied. I was able to get the action from 2 to 4 ( 2mm from the 17th fret on the 1st string to 4mm from the 17th on the 6th )with no fret buzz, of course it did take some minor trust rod adjustments, but I've come to expect this from any guitar I buy, the vol pots, tone pots, switch, jack, and the Gibson pickups are the same as you would find in a Gibson Les Paul standard. Ok now for the bad and as I said before it's not really bad, I would have liked to have had better quality rose wood on the fret board and the pickup bezels could have been better. The bezels are cheaply and easily replaced and as for the Rosewood it's just the looks, it has nothing to do with the guitars play-ability or function. I would have had no problem paying a $100 more for this guitar if it had a better looking fingerboard. For the money this is a 5 star guitar. Oh and I forgot this most important part of any guitar..IT SOUNDS AMAZING...way better than any studio I've ever played. If something were to happen to this guitar I would most definitively buy another one.

  • Best Epi LP Ever

As reviewed by Richard Szala on 10/10/2012

I have several Epi LP's and I was going to blow the bank roll and make the Gibby JB LP my first Gibson but after the glowing reviews and what I know about Epi's, I bought the Epi. I changed the pick guard to the Gibson three ply one like on the Gibby JB and from the nut down, you can't tell it from a Gibby. It has the same pickups and I'm of the opinion that the pickups make the guitar. It doesn't matter that under the paint its a couple of pieces of wood glued together instead of one piece and the dirty little secret is unless you knew or had a million dollars of scientific equipment, you wouldn't be able to hear the difference. For all intents and purposes, its audible one piece of wood. Joe B is a great guy and he did a great service to players to have Epi and Gibby put out a quality guitar everyone can enjoy. I mean an Epi with Gibby pickups at this price? And a nice hard case too? Whats to decide? They could have charged hundreds more and even Gibby could have doubled their price. The Gibby was within my reach but the Epi is so close to the Gibby it makes sense to buy it. Its the best Epi yet.
