      Gibson 2013 SG Tribute '60s Min-ETune Electric Guitar (H90735)
Availability:

A tribute to the SG that put rock into roll with automated tuners.

The 2013 body style was first released in 1961 as a replacement for the original Les Paul, and the new design remained iconic long after the single-cutaway Les Paul returned to the fold later in the decade. The SG ’60s Tribute captures the look, feel, and tone of the legendary original SG Standards of 1960s. Like the first SG Standards, the SG ’60s Tribute carries a pair of PAF-style humbucking pickups, the most revered pickup ever created, along with the fast and comfortable slim neck profile characteristic of the start of that decade. Gibson’s most acclaimed hardware set ensures smooth playability and offers precise tuning and intonation.

This Les Paul ’60s Tribute comes upgraded with Min-ETune™ automated “Robot” tuners. The SG ’60s Tribute looks great in a choice of colors, all finished with Vintage Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer.

Like the greatest SG Standards ever made, the SG ’60s Tribute starts with a foundation of solid mahogany, a tonewood with a long tradition at Gibson. A solid mahogany body is crafted in the distinctive, thin asymmetrical dual-cutaway style, with iconic pointed “horns” and beveled edges to enhance playing comfort. A solid mahogany neck is glued into the body in Gibson’s time-tested tradition, and carved to a fast, slim ’60s profile that measures .800” at the 1st fret and .875” at the 12th. It is topped with a genuine rosewood fingerboard that carries 24 medium-jumbo frets to maximize this neck’s excellent fret access, and traditional trapezoid inlays.

In keeping with the stripped-down ethos of this powerful performer, both body and ’board remain unbound, and there’s no pickguard to obscure the finish. A PLEK-cut nut made from black Corian subtly complements the black speed knobs and black pickup rings. The traditional back-angled headstock is silkscreened with gold Gibson and holly logos.

The SG ’60s Tribute takes its firepower from a pair of BurstBucker humbucking pickups—a BurstBucker 1 at the neck and a slightly hotter BurstBucker 2 at the bridge, both are some of the most accurate recreations of vintage PAF humbuckers available today. These great pickups adhere strictly to Seth Lover’s original formula, which includes a genuine Alnico II bar magnet in each pickup and slightly mismatched coils wound with 42-AWG enamel-coated wire for the characteristic edge and bite that has made original PAFs legendary. The traditional wiring complement of an independent volume and tone control per pickup, plus a three-way toggle selector switch, allows a broad range of sonic variations.

To anchor it all down, Gibson USA loads in a Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece, with a set of genuine Grover™ kidney button tuners, a hardware set that partners up for solid sustain and precision tuning. Put it all together, and the SG ’60s Tribute presents the perfect celebration of Les Paul’s genius and achievement, wrapping it all into a great guitar that brings the look, feel, and sound of the original humbucker-loaded SGs to the hands of players of today.

Each guitar includes a black Gibson gig bag, owner’s manual and truss-rod wrench.

Min-ETune automated “robot” tuners
Min-ETune is a small compact battery powered tuning unit that sits on the back of the guitar — a mighty enhancement to an already great instrument. No need for screws, wiring or routing, in fact the system is hardly visible from the front of the guitar. You can still adjust the tuning pegs manually or turn on the Min-ETune to choose from 12 popular tunings or program 6 of your own.

Always In Tune
A guitar with Min-ETune looks the same, feels the same, plays the same and rocks the same - it’s just always in tune. Adjust to other instruments' imperfect tuning with Reference Tuning and keep that harmony going. Perfect for home, studio and gigging: The internal lithium battery lasts for 80 to 100 tunings on just one charge. Rock longer with the fast and accurate Min-ETune, tuning your guitar in just 3 seconds and 1 strum.

In Perfect Harmony
Digital tuners that emulate open tunings are available BUT because the Min-ETune physically turns the tuners, the system is always organic and natural. There’s no delay, no dampening and no dead sound — just the natural vibration of guitar strings in total harmony with the vibrations coming out of the amp producing ringing harmonics and powerful sustain.

Rock Out
With the new Min-ETune equipped guitars all you have to do is PUSH the button, STRUM, get TUNED and ROCK out. Min-ETune is a huge boost to the live performer, the touring professional, the experienced enthusiast, the beginner and novice player alike.

Save time and money in the studio because the tuning system is so fast and accurate. And Min-ETune is a priceless tool for writing creatively with its instant access to the sounds your muse demands. Perfect for the professional – Min-ETune will have you rocking around the clock.

Travel light to your next gig or across the globe, just one guitar does the work of multiple guitars in different tunings – perfect for the enthusiast. Keep on rocking and experiment with a wide range of alternate tunings or program your own and save it forever with Min-ETune.

Spend less time learning to tune and more time learning to play the guitar. Perfect for the beginner – Min-ETune puts a variety of tunings at your fingertips. You are ready to rock? With Min-ETune you can even experiment with open tunings, something that usually takes years of practice.

More than just efficient, affordable, versatile, and powerful, Min-ETuneTM is truly a creative tool that you can’t do without.

  • Wow!

As reviewed by STEVE LUNDELL on 5/16/2013

Just received my SG 60's Tribute(etune)in the mail today, and Holy Crap, that thing is awesome! After test driving a number of SG's at the store I decided this was the best bang for my buck. Contrary to the haters out there who complain about everything, this is an excellent guitar. Took it out of the box, hit the "auto-tune" button, and I was up and running in seconds. Do you need that "robo" tuning capability? Probably not, but it works as advertised, and is just plain cool. Finish was just what I was looking for. Heritage Cherry - deep red - low gloss (not flat). I didn't find any flaws in the finish. It appears to be one solid piece of wood. I'm sure it's made of 2 or 3 pieces, but the way the grain is matched, you can barely tell. The finish on the body is smooth and even. So is the neck. I have a Les Paul with a 50's neck, and I love that guitar, but the slim 60's style on this one feels and plays great. The frets don't have any rough edges. The pickups are perfect for me. Plenty of punch - not muddy at all. They look great as well. The guitar is really light weight, and feels pretty balanced to me. This may well be turn out to be the favorite of my 7 guitars. I love that thing!
