A top-flight flat-top for top-flight artists—the Songwriter Deluxe Standard.
More than just a rich and shimmering tone machine, though, the Songwriter Deluxe Standard is an unparalleled looker. Its abalone soundhole rosette, mother-of-pearl “diamond eye” fingerboard inlays, mother-of-pearl headstock inlays, custom two-point tortoiseshell pickguard, back marquetry strip, and gold Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners all bespeak a subtle elegance that will get you noticed, while the Songwriter Deluxe Standard’s performance is getting you heard.
Body and finish
This big-bodied, square-shouldered dreadnought is built from the classic tonewood combination of Sitka spruce top and rosewood back and sides—all solid woods—with a tonally advantageous advanced X-brace made of scalloped Adirondack red spruce braces supporting the top. A hand-sprayed nitrocellulose lacquer finish in Vintage Sunburst or Antique Natural, maple binding, and abalone soundhole rosette mean the Songwriter Deluxe Standard looks just as beautiful as it sounds.
Neck and headstock
The guitar’s neck and headstock are made much in the tradition of many classic Gibson flat-tops that have preceded this model, with the 25 1/2” scale length that many players prefer in a large-bodied flat-top. Carved from a single piece of quarter-sawn mahogany, and topped with an Rosewood fingerboard, the design incorporates Gibson’s lauded 17-degree back-angled headstock, which contributes greatly to the instrument’s resonance and sustain, and the wider dimensions of 1.725” at the nut, providing the finger room that top players require. Its headstock is carved to the traditional “Advanced Jumbo” shape and bound in natural maple.
The Songwriter Deluxe Standard carries an up-market hardware set, including gold-plated Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners, an Rosewood bridge with traditional bridge pins, a bone string nut and saddle, and a Fishman Ellipse Aura pickup and preamp unit. This cutting-edge system not only impeccably translates the guitar’s resonant acoustic voice to your choice of PA or amplification system, but also allows you to blend the instrument’s natural tone with one of four “images” of classic acoustic guitar recordings for unparalleled sonic versatility.
Hardshell case included.
