Schecter Guitar Research Blackjack SLS SOLO with Hell's Gate Inlay Electric Guitar (107893851)

Was $799.00

A sleek, singlecut rocker with Seymour Duncan pickups from Schecter.

Schecter is breaking new musical ground with their Slim Line Series of electric guitars. Designed with an ultra-thin, lighting fast neck and a sleek contoured body, the Blackjack SLS SOLO is armed with Seymour Duncan Full Shred and Jazz humbucking pickups, a TonePros™ w/ string-thru body bridge, and Schecter locking tuners. Elegant design appointments include a "Hell's Gate Skull" inlay on its ebony fretboard, and the entire guitar is adorned with black chrome hardware.

3-Piece maple neck
Made with 3 pieces of maple for extra stability. 3-Piece necks can withstand the test of time. Where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the 3-piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability.

Satin finish and Ultra-Thin profile
The SLS collection features a satin finish neck for lightning fast playing above and below the 12th fret and an ultra-thin neck profile (19mm at 1st fret/ 20mm at 12th fret).

Ebony fretboard
Ebony has a snappy, crisp attack with the density of maple, but with more brittle grains, oilier pores, and a stronger fundamental tone than maple. It has a tremendous amount of percussive overtones in the pick attack, that mute out shortly thereafter to foster great, long sustain.

Seymour Duncan Full Shred and Jazz passive pickups
The Full Shred contains double rows of Allen screw pole pieces help fine tune the high end, leaving a tone that's fat and chunky, yet perfectly defined for speed riffs. Seymour Duncan's Jazz is a classic moderate output humbucker. Don't let the name fool you; it's not only great for jazz, but also country, blues, funk, classic rock and heavy rock.

Schecter locking tuning machines
These tuners feature a locking screw pin to lock the string into place for greater tuning stability. Details include a 19:1 gear ratio allowing for precise fine tuning adjustments, removable knobs, threaded peghead bushing, and a 10mm diameter peg hole.

Hell's Gate Skull inlay
The Mother of Pearl 'Hell's Gate Skull' inlay compliments the beautiful ebony fretboard. The thin white binding strip adds a nice highlight.

Case sold separately.

  • NICE GUITAR... but ooone little problem.

As reviewed by JAMES SAVINO on 3/11/2014

This guitar is hands down GREAT feeling, playing, looking(?) and sounding. It has locking tuners, very nice SD pick ups, and a great finish with a wonderful ebony fret board. The back of the neck is made out of this cool semi gloss material, and on the blue version of this guitar it has this bluish "glow" thing going on the back of the neck. This instrument fits my hands perfectly and sounds great. I was ready to buy this guitar after playing it at Guitar Center but the more I looked it at... I could not get over the skull flower looking thing on the 12th fret... that inlay just started to bug me more and more. Why did you do this Schecter? Why could you not just make this guitar with something not so fancy? If I was a girl, I would be all over that inlay. It stopped me from buying it but if you can stand to look it at, or better yet you like it, my gosh BUY THIS GUITAR!

  • No ugly inlays please!

As reviewed by TOME on 1/13/2015

I too want to echo what the other reviewers have said about this guitar. Beautiful looking guitar, excellent fit a finish, great neck, great materials, and a fantastic price for this level of guitar. But, what's with the skull inlay? I know Schecter promotes itself as being a guitar maker for Metal players, but then not every player who wants a guitar like this wants that imagery on their guitar, I know I don't. I have a Schecter C1 Classic and would like to get this Blackjack with this cool blue finish and all of the other great parts, but I can't as I don't like to have a skull on my fret board even though I do enjoy playing Metal from time to time. Please Schecter you need to rethink what guitar players really want and then make versions of your guitars that don't have a specific type of imagery on them as that will lose sales as it has for at least 3 players here who do like this guitar.

This is one of the nicest feelings guitars to play I have ever held. The back of the neck has this weird, semi gloss, really cool glowing color look, that looks and plays AMAZING! The ebony fret board is fantastic. The guitar sounds, and plays like a dream. I CAN NOT GET OVER the horrible flowery, skull Inlay thing on the 12th fret. IT RUINS my buying this AXE! I would pedal down to GC and buy one of these without that stupid inlay in a heart beat because its an amazing guitar, but man that inlay looks bad. WHY DO YOU DO THIS SCHECTER! Why did they take the time to put this dumb inlay on the neck? It doesn't seem too bad on the web site due to the small picture, but in person, it just kills it man. If I was a girl, fine, but that skull thing is so bad looking. It really pisses me off they did this.... Why schecter... why.... But back to what I was saying, fantastic pick ups, fantastic feel, great fit an finish. Double binding on front and back.... great guitar, horribly inlay... thats all. 5 stars without the inlay
