Fender 60th Anniversary Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar (H71851)

Join the celebration to honor the guitar that changed popular music forever.

The Fender Custom Shop's popular La Cabronita Especial Telecaster models now join the family in the form of the Cabronita Telecaster—a Telecaster with "a lot more attitude"—which boasts a slab body and TV Jones® Filter'Tron™ pickups.

On its 1951 introduction, the Telecaster was a revolutionary instrument that would usher in whole new eras of musical innovation and excitement. Sixty years later, in 2011, it is an archetypal electric guitar with a long and storied history. The rich history of Fender guitars begins with the Telecaster, and Fender is celebrating its 60th anniversary all year with 12 very special "Tele-bration" models that stay inside the Telecaster's famously elegant lines while offering the finest and most unusual takes on the instrument's past, present and future.

I will ditto everything Mitchell said on his review. I play an American Standard Tele as my main guitar. Country swing music. Lots of Yoakam driving country sound. I've been waiting for a price break on one of these. Bought the sunburst finally. My main amp is a Roland 80 XL. Its clean with lots of head room. It gets loud as you need and the speaker does not break up. Just describing my sound here. A few days now with this guitar and its just stunning. I also have a LP Studio. Its going on eBay. This thing has the most amazing bite and tone on full volume on any pickup selection. If you are concerned about no tone knob not to worry. Back the volume down 1/2 to 1 notch to take out the bite. For leads pump it back up. I use sometimes the MXR Custom Badass pedal for a little dirt. Its a tough call if this thing sounds better when on full volume without the pedal than with it on leads. If you are a tone nut and are looking for a unique ballsy sound look no further. The sound is not Stat, Tele, or a LP type buckers. It is totally unexplainable different. Will it do mellow jazz and blues? You bet. Quality and finish. Its custom shop for sure. My American Telecaster is beautiful. This guitar came amazingly perfect in every respect. Maybe even 110%. Mine came with a G&G really nice case. I've gotten rid of the heavy tube amps but tell you what! My next buy is maybe the Peavey Delta Blues 115 for this guitar. This thing should push the tubes and speaker in an awesome way. That's it for now. Back to playing it.

I bought this guitar about 3 weeks ago from my local GC--i havent played my Mexican Tele, my Strat, or my Les Paul since. I originally saw a cabronita telecaster on a Keith Urban & John Mayer crossroads concert. Even then I thought, what a cool guitar. I couldn't help but appreciate the simplicity of it, being just two pickups, a volume knob, and a 3 way switch. I knew the guitar had to be a custom shop, so being out of my price range I never thought about getting one. It was at my local gc that I finally found one to play. WOW. The neck felt so good, great fret work with satin neck w/ a gloss fretboard. I decided to plug it in to a fender super-sonic... Wow again. It had such a pleasing response. The tv jones pickups absolutely MAKE this guitar; they have that thick, fattyness that'd you'd expect from a humbucker, but enough clarity that one could mistake them for a p-90. The bridge pickup is fat and clear, almost like a really good vintage tele single coil, while the neck pickup is interesting in that it has a bit of a woody character to it as if the guitar were an old 335 hollow-body. And the pickups together is bliss. The finish is a high gloss and really brings out the flame in the alder body (i bought the sunburst). It is, however, nitrocellulose (not the rock hard polyurethane that comes on Mexican made fenders) so it does scratch easily, even just rubbing against soft clothes. But I think that just adds to the coolness of the guitar and I expect it to naturally relic very nicely. Many online reviews disagree with the price of the guitar, and it might be a little steep since it probably costs no more to make than an American standard... But if you are looking for your MAIN guitar, this guitar is worth the money.
