Gibson Les Paul Studio 60's Tribute Electric Guitar with P-90 Pickups (H78030)

No-nonsense performance, classic tones, a textured satin finish, and snarling P-90 pups.

The Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute is built on a solid tradition. Ever since its introduction in 1983, the Les Paul Studio model has been enormously popular with players seeking the power and versatility of the original Les Paul Standard in a ready-for-action package, with a price to match. The instruments' reduced ornamentation—lacking body or fingerboard binding, and using plainer tops—has helped to put them in the hands of many more players, while their adherence to the Les Paul's hardware, pickup, and construction traditions retained all the thick, meaty tone and unsurpassed playability for which the Standard has been known for nearly 60 years.

The Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute is handcrafted by Gibson artisans in Nashville, Tennessee starting with a time-tested selection of tonewoods: a Les Paul mahogany body with a maple top that is graced with a grain textured satin finish. A mahogany neck with a '60s profile has a 22-fret baked maple fingerboard while a pair of P-90 provide the snappy biting tone. TonePros Kluson-style tuners and the Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge keep your tuning and intonation right where it should be.

Baked Maple:
Aging maple through a “baking” process called torrefaction. The wood is kept at 200-300º F for a period of time until the wood knows it’s no longer a tree; Moisture is restored under pressure. This makes the wood very hard, sonically “live” and extremely stable. The snappy sound of ebony, with the look of medium-brown pau ferro. Many boutique manufacturers are now using this because it improves the wood with no chemical treatment, it’s environmentally friendly and is great for making better sounding and playing guitars!

  • Great guitar!

As reviewed by ANDRE ASSELIN on 1/5/2012

I love playing the guitar and this Gibson is just fantastic! I presently own a Fender and a Gretsch duo jet and this is the perfect addition to my collection: easy to play, great feel and a real bright rock sound. I now understand why so many musicians are Gibson' s players. Thanks to Eric A for his help at Hallandale' s shop and congratulations for Gibson s workmanship quality . If you can afford it, don' t wait!

  • HOLY S***

As reviewed by Brandon Olson on 2/14/2012

Had this awesome guit for maybe 8 months now, and all I can say is buy one. Tones from bright and jingely to dirty nasty crunch, the p90s just rock. And holy crap does this thing come alive tuned down a half step! I play live a few nights a week and with little more than this guitar and a pedal or two, I can jam everything form Red Dirt country to hard core punk and classic rock. Fast and light action makes this guitar easy to play even for a beginner (students love it). Weight is good, I have no problem letting it hang for 4 hours or so compared to a solid body Les. Nice fat neck profile, and who doesn't love a fatty now and then... Bottom line - Worth every penny!

  • Great Guitar!!!

As reviewed by Josh Oberting on 1/30/2012

The Gibson Les Paul 60's Tribute Studio is a fantastic guitars. The P-90 pickups are awesome for the style of music I play. If you play metal, or hard rock, I would not recomend this guitar. The P-90s, when distorted, produce a, what is called, a "60hz buzz" which pretty much means that they, being single coil pickups, buzz when distorted. Other than that, this guitar is superb
