Played this thing at a Guitar Center and it is now on my list as a MUST HAVE guitar. I played the one without the Tremolo but it would be alot better to have the tremolo for dive bombs. Has great punchy tele tone that sounds amazing with distortion. Try it out and you wont be disappointed.
This is a beautiful guitar. The neck is very comfortable and facilitates easy playing with riffs and string bends. The 2 humbucking pickups have a great sound and resonate very well with the alder body. I'm very happy with the sound and play-ability of this instrument. The only problem I have is with the Tremolo. It is very very stiff. I had them try to adjust it out at the Guitar Center, but they weren't able to make it work any better. I traded my old HSS strat in on this guitar and it had the same style tremolo that was very smooth, but not the one on this guitar. I tried adjusting it myself, by following fender's instructions, but it still is so stiff that it makes difficult to use. If I try using only 2 springs instead of the 3, it won't stay in tune. The 3 springs make sure that you stay in tune, but the action is too stiff to use, I may have to have the tremolo replaced. Otherwise, I really like all of the other aspects.
Okay, so I found this guitar just a couple of months after I bought a regular Mexican made Telecaster. At the time I also owned a Fender Showmaster QMT HH (with a tremolo) and a Gibson Les Paul. When I found this guitar I realized that this guitar was all three of them in one. So I bought this one and I am now in the process of selling my old Telecaster and my Showmaster to make some of the cash back and I'm keeping my Les Paul. Don't worry I'm going to make my point soon I promise. I like to play a lot of Tom Morello's stuff that involves using the toggle/kill switch. That is why I bought this Telecaster. Since I can't take my Les Paul to school with me this guitar is absolutely perfect as a substitute. But Telecasters are great for genres from Country to Punk rock. It has the 4 controls knobs and a kill switch (just like a Les Paul) and the tremolo bar is a really big plus. I truly enjoy playing it. It is perfect for the price. I am quite grateful that is comes with a HIGH QUALITY soft case. It is such a pain to buy the case and the guitar separately. However, I have one problem with it. When you screw in the tremolo bar it gets blocked by the volume and tone control knobs. But if that is the only thing I can complain about, how bad can this guitar be? But back to the good stuff. It isn't heavy at all to play standing up and the neck is superb (I do like a smaller headstock usually, but its not a huge problem) . The metallic pick ups really add to the style of it. The pick ups themselves are really great without distortion. But of course, they are amazing with distortion as well. This guitar has great sustain as well. The tremolo bar is really high quality. I don't feel like I will break it if I "wiggle" it too much. I love this guitar. Definitely consider it. But get it online because it is impossible to find this model in stores. Try a similar model. Truly worth the wait and money. A great buy.
