Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe Electric Guitar (582657)

A true Les Paul with advanced electronics that is lightweight and affordable.

The Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe Electric Guitar has become one of the most desired Les Paul guitars for its tremendous harmonic and sonic capacities. The studio guitar is coveted by musicians from all genres of music and offers Les Paul performance with a modern, no-frills attitude. This Silverburst edition is lighter weight and offers a distinct look and modern features.

The Les Paul Studio guitar marries a lightweight chambered mahogany back to a maple top. The mahogany set neck has a 22-fret fingerboard that is constructed from high-grade rosewood. The flatter 12" fingerboard radius promotes smooth note bending and eliminates dead or choked out notes—a common occurrence on rounder, smaller radius fingerboards. The Les Paul Studio guitar's '60s neck profile is slim tapered emulating the neck shapes of the 1960 Les Paul Standard.

The Les Paul Studio Guitar shares the same quality electronics as some of its more expensive siblings. The Gibson 490R pickup has the tonal characteristics of an original PAF, but with a slight increase in upper mid-range response. The Gibson 498T bridge pickup is the 490 pickup's ideal complement. Taking the 490 one step further, the 498 swaps the Alnico II magnet with an Alnico V, thus making it a slightly hotter pickup with emphasis on mid-ranges and highs. The pole pieces on the 498T are also aligned a little further apart to accommodate the spacing of the strings at the bridge. Both pickups can be split via push/pull volume controls.

  • Great Les Paul

As reviewed by Kder on 6/11/2010

I bought this guitar just about a year ago when they were first released. They are said to be a Guitar Center exclusive color for the Les Paul Studio. The ebony fretboard is really outstanding and I swear the smooth surface makes bends a bit easier. I don't use the coil taps much but they are nice to have. The pickup combination is versatile, but i don't think is as clear as some of Gibson's other pickups like the '57 classics. This was my first gibson and it made me understand what makes Gibson special. Despite some complaints about quality control I haven't found these problems on any Gibson that I've purchased. It played very well out of the box. The four rating is based on the pickups that I just don't love. I will say this guitar is definitely more exciting to look at than most regular studios.

  • Buy this guitar!!!

As reviewed by Tyler on 10/3/2010

I first played this guitar in store about 5 or 6 months back and instantly fell in love with it. The looks, the sound, and the overall quality of this guitar is just amazing, especially for the price. The pictures up on the website don't even come close to doing justice on how beautiful it is in person. I played it unplugged first and it sounded great and plugging this beauty in just made it sound even better. So I finally saved up enough money for it (after about 6 months, I'm surprised the anticipation didn't kill me) and bought it two days ago. I was not disappointed at all. I was as excited about it when I first played it as I was 6 months later. This guitar has now taken its place as my favorite, out of 4 other guitars I own. The features are amazing too. The Gibson 498T and Gibson 490R pickups are the same as you'd find in a standard Les Paul and the ebony neck and mahogany/maple body give this guitar great tone and sustain. My favorite part has to be the coil tapping though. When I'm run through my bridge pickup and use the push/pull for it, my clean tones sound incredible! I'm running it through my POD XT Live and it picks up every sound crisply and clearly. So if you're looking for a high quality guitar that looks and sounds great for a cheap price, this is by far the best choice you can go with.

  • Gibson Les Paul Studio Silverburst

As reviewed by 91Softail on 3/1/2011

Quality speaks for itself. Don't let the fact that this is a studio model deter you. This quitar is not only beautiful to the eyes but the playability and sound are unmatched as far as I am concerned. I own several higher end guitars but honestly, this one is the king of the crop. Maybe it just happens to be this specific guitar but I have never heard such sweet sounds come out of my amps and I am no better a guitar player than I was the day before I picked up this axe. The tone is so sweet I have actually pulled back from my usual hi gain bridge position standby and am using rythem settings with less gain on the amp. I know this thing is going to make me a better player. Save your money up and get the real thing! You will understand what I mean when you play one of these babies. THANK YOU Gibson and Guitar Center for making this beauty available. Worth every penny!
