Two great pedals in a single stompbox.

The GT-500 Effects Pedal from Fulltone is a discrete FET Hi-Gain Distortion and Overdrive Booster in one box. You could think of them as 2 separate pedals, or think of them as stages to be linked together for endless combinations. The Hi-Gain side has Volume, Distortion knobs, Bass, Mid, and Highs minipots. Its Booster Side has Volume, Overdrive knobs, Bass and Highs minipots.

Hard-clipped distortion-the way most guitar pedals achieve distortion-at one point in a circuit can be cool, but stage after stage of FET (GT-500) is very real, very amplike, and has ridiculous amounts of sustain even at low volume. It does the great chunky low-string rhythm stuff and cleans up incredibly well when you turn down the guitar's volume. The Fulltone GT500 contains 9 FETs, 2 Mosfets, and 1 Transistor with no opamps or clipping diodes used.

What's special about the EQ? The Hi-Gain side has a discrete Inductor-Driven Midrange circuit-never been done in a pedal before. There's a wah-wah inductor inside the pedal that gives the Midrange control its ability to drastically increase or decrease the entire Low Mid, Mid, and Hi-Mid frequencies, to comical proportions. All this is done without any opamps-this has 100% discrete matched FETs.

This Mid control mixed with a strong Bass and Treble control help give the Fulltone GT-500 the ability to dial in more variations than a simple tone control, which can only roll off the Highs.

The Series Select Switch allows you to choose which pedal comes first (allowing you to instantly change the order of the 2 circuits). For example: A clean boost slamming into the front end a Distortion sounds way different than a Distortion followed by the clean boost, and when the EQs of the respective sides come into play, it's a wide-open canvas. Regardless of which side of the effects pedal is designated as first in line, you can still use each side by itself, completely independent of the other side.

  • Most used on my Pedalboard

This thing is awesome, I love it, I wouldn't dare think of selling it. I love the option it has of using 9v or 18v, with the 18v it gives more much power and better sound. It is like having a great distortion pedal, and a Fulltone OCD in one pedal, and whats even better is that you can get a clean boost out of it. I play through an orange amp and I use a Fender HSS Strat and it sound is great. I would tell anybody to get this pedal. From the jazz player to the rocker.

  • Fulltone GT-500

I love this pedal!!! It is everything I was looking for in a OD/distortion pedal. A very realistic tone even at low volume. It's also very touch sensitive, back the attack and it sings, hit and it screams.. The lows are rich and tight, no mud here! the EQ adjustments are very responsive and there is plenty of gain on tap. It's hand-made in California, and the price is right! Just awesome!

  • Astounding. 6 stars.

I would give it an extra star if i could. The GT-500 is easily the most outrageously awesome front end booster/distortion ever. No OpAmps or Diodes, just a chain of 9 FETs and includes a Wah Inductor for Mid Control on the Distortion side. Yup, a Wah inductor, a first. The ability to use either or both pedals independently plus change the order of of units makes this pedal super flexible. You can add some smooth EQ'd distortion into a clean boost for fatness. You can Clean Boost the distortion, pumping harmonics up. Speaking of overtones/Harmonics...they are all over this pedal. You do not lose any ringing harmonic overtones. Also, the GT cleans up like a champ with your volume knob. Just a freak of a pedal. I am able to coax perpetual feedback harmonics, at low volume, without tones of distortion, which is amazing. Use with a good Tube amp. Slam the front of it. Turn any cleaner single channel amp into 3 channel monster. Turn an old Marshall into a Firebreathing Metal machine. You can literally do it all, ESPECIALLY scooped mids with that Wah Inductor, which is really sicko. the tone controls are shelved just right. I would say the general tone of the Distortion is Plexi. The other side can do a huge clean boost with no artifacts, completely transparent. An amazing piece. An astounding buy.
